Image Options
Doug Remien Photography believes glass has always had several drawbacks when used to display photographic art. Most obvious among them were visibility problems such as glare. Recent innovations with museum quality, exhibition laminating materials now provide an excellent alternative.

Benefits include:
  • Superior visibility from utilizing an optically clear, exhibition quality, protective vinyl laminate that will never fog or yellow
  • Eliminates glare without reducing sharpness (fuzziness is often a complaint with non-glare glass)
  • More display options such as installing well above eye level, across from large windows, or without directional lighting (all conditions that when using glass produces unpleasant glare)
  • Increased longevity from blocking 97% of ultraviolet rays, thereby increasing the life of your image to over 90 years
  • Easier installation and greater stability on your wall due to the absence of fragile and heavy glass
  • Fully protected from moisture, humidity, fingerprints, dust and other airborne pollutants
  • Easily cleaned with a feather duster or water and a soft cloth
  • Affordably priced, in fact, the framed lamination price is the same as the glass framed price
This new non-glass alternative is now available for all larger sizes (print sizes 19"x24" and up). You may choose any of the following three options:

1. Laminated & mounted only: When selecting this option your laminated photo comes mounted on 3/16" thick gatorboard. These signed, numbered, and laminated photos are cold mounted with ph neutral, acid free adhesive. (Gatorboard is used in place of foamcore making your image dent resistant and warp free.) It will also include a certificate of authenticity and story about the image. Doug's signature and number can be found in the lower right corner of the image. It will be shipped flat in a cardboard box. Please refer to the mounted prices here: Lamination Framing Options & Prices. IMPORTANT: your image has already been protected with a UV laminate. It does not require glass, UV or otherwise. It will, however, require a method for installation. Make sure your framer understands this. Also let your framer know the value of your image as they will be financially responsible should they damage it.

2. Framed with linen liner: These images are signed, numbered, and mounted with the same methods and materials as noted above. In place of a traditional rag mat, Doug Remien Photography uses a fabric liner more commonly used with fine oil paintings. The liners feature a natural color (white/beige) and are 2” wide on the 19x24 images and 3 ½” wide on larger images. Click here to view a picture of liner choices. The frames surrounding the liners feature an elegant contemporary solid wood profile available in various finishes. For the smaller 19x24 images, the frame profile is 1½ inches wide by 1 inch high and available in a mahogany finish. The frame profiles on the larger images are 2 ¾ inches wide by 1½ high and available in coffee brown, pecan and mahogany. They come ready to hang with wall anchors included. The finished image is shipped in a custom built cardboard picture box. Click here to view a picture of frame choices. Please refer to the framed prices here: Lamination Framing Options & Prices.

3. Frameless and without linen liner: Also known as gallery wrap framing, it provides another alternative to the full framed option. These images are signed, numbered, and mounted with the same methods and materials as noted above, (3/4" gatorboard is used instead of 3/16".). They come ready to hang with wall anchors included. They're then shipped flat in a cardboard picture box. Please refer to the without linen liner prices here: Lamination Framing Options & Prices.

Non lamination options
Print sizes of 11x14, 15x19, 7x20, and 10x30 do not come laminated and instead are available only matted. When ordering matted images your photo comes signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity and story about the image. The images are mounted on acid free 3/16" thick foamcore, utilizing a pressure sensitive, ph neutral acid free adhesive. The photo is then over-matted with two off-white 100% museum quality rag mat boards. The mat borders vary in width (smaller images have smaller mat borders). Please note the relationship between print size and matted size here: Matted Options & Price. The image is then shipped flat in a cardboard picture box, ready for framing.
